KTM’s MotoGP project remains secure despite ongoing financial concerns surrounding KTM AG. However, the Austrian manufacturer is actively looking for investors to ensure long-term stability and reduce its reliance on internal funding. Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsport Director, confirmed that discussions are underway, with a potential announcement expected within the first half of the year.

In an interview with Speedweek, Beirer explained the strategic importance of bringing investors into the project. While the team’s current financial structure is stable, he emphasized that securing external backing would help KTM become fully self-sufficient in MotoGP.

“An investor is different from a sponsor. When you have partners at the table who put money into such a great project, they get involved. That should also be a positive thing. When strong partners join the discussion and share ideas, good solutions emerge. Of course, such people will have a say. You can find an investor for anywhere between 0 and 100%, and then you have to decide how much of a say they will have,” Beirer stated.

KTM rules out selling its MotoGP project

While KTM is open to outside investment, Beirer made it clear that selling the MotoGP project is not an option. Instead, the team is looking for financial partners who can contribute not only funds but also valuable business expertise and connections.

"Increasing revenue through sponsors and having a professional by my side to help organize the team in a different way – so that at some point, we no longer need to fund a MotoGP project internally – is the ultimate goal," Beirer explained.

This strategy aligns with KTM’s broader objective of strengthening its position in MotoGP without compromising its competitive independence. By attracting investors, the team aims to enhance its financial resources while maintaining control over key sporting and technical decisions.

The role of investors in KTM’s MotoGP future

Bringing in investors would allow KTM to expand its operations without depending solely on KTM AG’s budget. This model has been successfully adopted by other teams in motorsports, where private investment helps sustain high-level competition without financial strain on the parent company.

Beirer emphasized that any potential investor must align with KTM’s vision and long-term strategy in MotoGP. The goal is not just to secure funding but to build a sustainable financial structure that ensures continued success in the premier class of motorcycle racing.

While the details of potential investors remain undisclosed, Beirer hinted that discussions are progressing positively. The final decision will depend on the terms of involvement and the benefits they bring to the project.

KTM’s commitment to long-term MotoGP success

Despite the financial restructuring efforts, KTM remains committed to its MotoGP program. The manufacturer has made significant progress in recent seasons, establishing itself as a strong contender in the championship.

The search for investors is part of a broader plan to strengthen the team’s foundation and ensure it remains competitive in the long run. By securing additional financial backing, KTM aims to continue developing its MotoGP project without the risk of financial instability affecting its performance on track.

As the 2025 season unfolds, KTM’s management will continue evaluating potential investment opportunities. With a possible announcement expected within the first half of the year, the coming months will be crucial in shaping the future of KTM’s MotoGP project.
