Harry Kane continued his stellar form in the Bundesliga by scoring his 24th league goal of the season in Bayern Munich’s commanding 4-0 victory over Heidenheim on Saturday. The result moves Bayern Munich a crucial step closer to securing their 34th German league title, pushing them nine points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who are scheduled to play on Sunday.

The England captain, who signed with the German giants in the summer of 2023, has now scored 60 goals in his first 60 Bundesliga appearances—a remarkable achievement that underscores his impact in German football. Kane’s opening goal came in the 12th minute, setting the tone for a relentless Bayern performance that bounced back strongly following their midweek Champions League elimination at the hands of Inter Milan.

Joshua Kimmich, who sealed the win with Bayern’s fourth goal, emphasized the importance of the result: “It was a very important step towards the title,” he told Sky Germany. “We’re now nine points ahead—and Leverkusen have to win. But we’re not really looking at them. We have to win at least two more games to secure the title.”

Kane strikes early, Bayern dominate

Bayern wasted no time asserting their dominance. Kane’s early goal was classic centre-forward play—he received the ball with his back to goal, turned sharply, and fired past Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Mueller. It was a statement of intent from a striker still chasing the first club trophy of his career.

Seven minutes later, Konrad Laimer made it 2-0 after a clever through ball from Serge Gnabry. Laimer coolly clipped the ball past Mueller to double the visitors' lead. Bayern’s relentless pressure continued, and in the 36th minute, Kingsley Coman capitalized on a rebound from a Raphael Guerreiro shot to tap in the third goal.

The second half saw no let-up from Bayern. Guerreiro turned provider again, this time setting up Kimmich, who slotted home Bayern’s fourth goal in the 56th minute. It was only his second goal in 46 appearances this season, but a timely one that reaffirmed Bayern’s dominance.

Bayern’s title countdown begins

With just a few matches remaining, Bayern Munich are now in full control of the Bundesliga title race. If results go their way next week, they could officially clinch the championship. The team’s response to their Champions League exit showed the mentality of champions—focused, efficient, and unyielding.

Harry Kane’s personal form remains one of the standout stories of the Bundesliga season. He has adapted seamlessly to life in Germany, not only scoring prolifically but also proving to be a vital leader for a Bayern side still stacked with talent.

Bundesliga fireworks in Berlin

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Saturday delivered a historic eight-goal first half in Berlin. Union Berlin and Stuttgart played out a stunning 4-4 draw, with all goals coming before the break—a first in Bundesliga history.

Union took an early two-goal lead through Andrej Ilic and Diogo Leite, both converting set-pieces. Stuttgart responded swiftly as Deniz Undav and Enzo Millot scored to level at 2-2. Union’s Leopold Querfeld restored the home side’s lead with a thunderous long-range effort, but Stuttgart’s Jeff Chabot and Chris Fuehrich scored in quick succession to make it 4-3.

Just before half-time, Ilic scored again to bring the match level at 4-4. Despite an open and attacking second half, no further goals were added, meaning the all-time Bundesliga record of 12 goals in a single match still stands.

The draw ensured that Union Berlin will remain in the top division next season, a relief for their supporters after a turbulent campaign.

Leipzig stumble, Mainz falter

RB Leipzig’s hopes of finishing in the top four suffered a blow after a 1-1 draw at home to bottom-placed Holstein Kiel. Shuto Machino gave the visitors a surprise lead just before the interval, and although Leipzig equalized through Benjamin Sesko from the penalty spot with 74 minutes played, they could not find a winner.

Lois Openda came close with a stunning long-range shot that found the back of the net, but it was ruled out for offside. The game also saw Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi stretchered off after a collision with Kiel’s Steven Skrzybski, adding to their woes.

Mainz missed the chance to capitalize on Leipzig’s dropped points, drawing 2-2 with Wolfsburg despite leading for most of the match. Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold scored inside the first three minutes, but Mainz hit back through Lee Jae-sung and Dominik Kohr. However, Denis Vavro equalized for Wolfsburg in the 90th minute, denying Mainz a potentially historic step toward Champions League qualification.

Freiburg gain ground, Bochum in trouble

Freiburg kept their European hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 win over Hoffenheim. Lucas Hoeler netted twice, helping his side move to fifth place in the Bundesliga standings, just one point behind Leipzig and one ahead of Mainz. The fight for Champions League and Europa League places looks set to go down to the wire.

Werder Bremen also recorded an important win, edging Bochum 1-0 thanks to a Mitchell Weiser goal. The result strengthens Bremen’s European qualification chances while pushing Bochum closer to relegation. Despite their surprise victories over Bayern and Dortmund earlier this season, Bochum now find themselves nine points from safety with only four games remaining.

Kane’s title dream within reach

For Harry Kane, who left Tottenham Hotspur last summer in search of silverware, the Bundesliga title is now tantalizingly close. After years of coming up short in England, he is on the verge of finally lifting a major club trophy. With his consistent scoring, leadership, and ability to deliver in crucial moments, Kane has become the talisman Bayern Munich needed in their post-Lewandowski era.

The road to the title is not yet fully paved, but Bayern’s latest performance—led by Kane’s goal and a flurry of attacking brilliance—shows that they are not just focused on winning, but on winning in style.

As the Bundesliga season nears its climax, all eyes will be on whether Kane and Bayern can seal the deal—and how the chasing pack respond to a club that continues to raise the bar in German football.
