Marc Marquez has voiced his support for Jorge Martin as the reigning MotoGP world champion continues his recovery from injury. Martin, who suffered a minor crash during pre-season testing and individual training ahead of the season opener in Thailand, has been forced to miss the first three races of the 2025 season.

After sitting out the Thailand and Argentina rounds, Martin has also confirmed that he will not compete in the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas (CoTA) in Austin from March 28 to 31. His decision to focus on recovery has the full backing of Marquez, who understands the challenges of racing at CoTA.

“Yes, I sent him a message to respect his body. I think it was the right decision not to go to Austin,” Marquez said in a statement quoted from MotoGP’s official Instagram account on March 14, 2025.

Marquez emphasizes CoTA’s physical demands

Marquez, widely known as The Baby Alien, has extensive experience at the Circuit of The Americas. Having claimed multiple victories at the venue, he knows how physically demanding the track can be, especially for a rider recovering from an injury.

“The circuit is very tricky and can affect the physical condition a lot. I think Jorge made a wise decision to focus on his recovery,” Marquez added.

The Austin track is notorious for its grueling layout, particularly in the first sector, which features sharp turns and rapid direction changes. Racing at CoTA requires peak physical conditioning, and a premature return could aggravate Martin’s injury.

Encouragement from Marquez

Beyond acknowledging Martin’s decision, Marquez also offered words of encouragement to the Spanish rider, who has already lost valuable championship points due to his absence in the first three rounds.

“Don’t give up, Jorge. From the first day of recovery, everything will start to improve. We are all waiting for you on the track,” Marquez said.

Martin appreciated the support, responding with a smile and expressing his gratitude for the messages from his fellow riders and fans.

Title defense under threat for Martin

Missing the first three races has put a significant dent in Martin’s chances of defending his world championship title. However, with a long season ahead, a strong return could help him recover lost ground in the standings. If he can regain full fitness, he still has an opportunity to mount a comeback.

While Martin continues his recovery, the focus now shifts to the 2025 Argentina Grand Prix at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo Circuit. Riders are preparing for another intense battle on a track known for its thrilling duels.

MotoGP Argentina: Marquez eyes another strong result

Marquez, who delivered an impressive performance in the Thailand opener, is among the favorites for victory in Argentina. However, competition is expected to be fierce, with Francesco Bagnaia, Aleix Espargaró, and Marco Bezzecchi among the key contenders looking to challenge him.

Martin’s absence also presents an opportunity for other riders to capitalize on the points gap early in the season. With the title race wide open, the battle for the championship remains unpredictable as the 2025 MotoGP season continues.
