MotoGP makes its long-awaited return to Argentina, and Termas de Río Hondo is set to welcome back the premier class after a year’s absence. Among the riders preparing for this round with a cautious approach is Maverick Viñales, who believes adaptation and patience will be key to success this weekend.
Still focused on understanding his new setup, the Tech3 Spaniard reflected on the lessons from the season opener in Thailand. He emphasized that the first race of the year provided valuable insights, helping him establish a solid foundation for the upcoming rounds.
“We learned a lot during the opening round in Thailand, especially during the Sprint and the main race,” Viñales said. “It allowed us to establish our starting point. Now, all we’re going to do is work from there, continue to understand and learn the bike, session after session.”
Viñales expects a challenging adaptation phase
With MotoGP’s return to Argentina for the first time since 2023, Viñales anticipates a period of adjustment. The absence of races at Termas de Río Hondo means every rider and team will have to reacclimate to the circuit, taking into account the changes in both machines and riding styles over the past year.
“We haven’t been in Argentina since the 2023 season, so certainly all of us will have to get used to the track again,” he explained. “All the riders and machines have evolved so much since the last time we were in Termas, so we need to readapt to the track step by step and see how our bike behaves.”
Despite the challenge, Viñales remains optimistic. His adaptability has been a strong asset throughout his career, and he is determined to make steady progress as the weekend unfolds.
Excitement builds for Argentina GP
Beyond the technical aspects, Viñales is eager to return to Termas de Río Hondo for another reason—the passionate South American fans. The Argentina Grand Prix has long been known for its electric atmosphere, and the Spaniard is looking forward to the warm welcome from the local crowd.
“I’m super excited to return to Argentina,” Viñales said. “There has always been such a good atmosphere in Termas de Río Hondo, with so many fans coming to support us from all over South America. It will certainly be nice to meet them again after two years!”
As MotoGP heads into the second round of the 2025 season, Viñales will be focused on making gradual improvements throughout the weekend. With his methodical approach and motivation at its peak, he aims to maximize his potential at Termas de Río Hondo and build on his progress from Thailand.
